About the Artist
Ever since he was a kid, Robert Romagnoli (“Roman-OH-lee”) has loved creating art. After graduating The School of Visual Arts in New York City, Robert embarked upon a career as a freelance artist and consultant, a career he enjoys to this day.
Robert mastered the traditional skills of drawing, airbrushing, calligraphy and photography. He first learned computer graphics by working the huge, animated Spectacolor sign in Times Square (under the New Years ball), five years before the Macintosh came along. He is now an acknowledged computer maven, utilizing many major graphic programs. But he still taps his talents in sketching, inking, coloring and hand-lettering for many of his projects.
On any day you’ll find Robert working on a variety of projects. He could be walking a 40-mile trail to create a guide map. He may be in Central Park, sketching ducks for a science illustration. You might see him measuring a building for a large display, transforming satellite data into a three-dimensional terrain model, recreating historic wallpaper from a tiny scrap of the original, or telling a high school class to never give up on their dreams of an artistic career. He recently designed a new website (the one you’re looking at right now!)
As you might imagine, Robert truly enjoys his work. “Fun and enthusiasm are essential in the communication field”, he believes. “They’re the key to the effectiveness of any project, and vital when collaborating with co-creators.”
Robert enjoys his relationships with many long-time clients, or “co-creators”. As he puts it, “I work with the nicest people in so many different professions. I learn so much about history, culture, nature, education and even theology, and in return earn their trust by being their go-to artist.” He has also established long-term associations with printers, manufacturers, installers, and many other allied professionals. For example, his association with America’s premiere banner manufacturer, Kraus & Sons, enables him to oversee complete fabrication, from reproduction through installation.
Robert lives and works in a loft in Manhattan’s Little Italy neighborhood with his wife Patrice, who is a writer and creative consultant.
